Here’s the FSRankings ranking of robo-advisors based on how many dollars they manage, aka Assets Under Management (AUM).
Betterment and Wealthfront continue to far outpace the pack with over $10 billion in AUM each.
AssetBuilder comes in at #3 and is approaching $1 billion in AUM despite having far far fewer accounts. AssetBuilder has a much higher average account size due to their $50,000 minimum, and is the only robo-advisor that accesses Dimensional Fund Advisor’s funds.
Acorns is next at #4 with about $250 million in AUM. Acorns has a fairly small average account size of about $250. This makes sense since they are focused on helping people invest the spare change from their credit card transactions.
The remaining robo-advisors are stuck in the $100 million or less range.
